The default bindings for this signal come in two variants,
the variant with the <kbd>Shift</kbd> modifier extends the
selection, the variant without it does not.

move by individual characters/lines
- <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>-<kbd>→</kbd>, etc. move by words/paragraphs
